The Five Senses...Plus One

SEEING → HEARING → SMELLING → TASTING → FEELING

THE BASIS OF OUR EXISTENCE

The verbs above are truly amazing when you stop and think about it. From the time we took our first breath, the five senses were powerfully at work in our little bodies and brains. It is how we learned everything and the determining factors as to why we are what we are today - our minds are the sum total of everything we've ever seen, heard, smelled, tasted or felt.

The five senses, though physically wonderful for learning and growing and experiencing all life has to offer, on the other hand can also bring anguish to the soul through the ways we were raised. Because everything we've experienced through the five senses as kids, we've continued building our lives on whatever kind of foundation our parents laid for us.

If we were, for the most part, exposed to positive experiences and influences, we'll more likely become a positive person ourselves, seeking to learn and improve and grow to become a better person.

If we were exposed through the fives senses to more negative experiences and influences than positive, it stands to reason that person will tend to be a pessimist rather than an optimist and struggle through life with a black cloud hanging over his head.

THE SPIRIT OF WISDOM AND UNDERSTANDING, OF COUNSEL AND MIGHT, THE SPIRIT OF KNOWLEDGE

But one thing is for sure, without the help of the sixth sense, we are all in the dark, only able to see and understand anything and everything we experience through the five senses, the physical realm. Although there be light from the sun in our physical world, there be no light from THE SON in the spiritual realm, that is, until we really begin to see ourselves for what we are and how much we need God's holy spirit, repent of our sins and turn around the other way.

The sixth sense is the LIGHT FROM THE SON, JESUS CHRIST! The Holy Spirit. God gives His Holy Spirit to those who obey Him, keeping all His commandments. By the way, did you know there are two commandments that are test commandments? It is by these specific two that God tests and grades those who say they are his children from those who really are His children. God really does search and test hearts.

Think about it, most professing Christians agree it is important to honor their father and mother, not to kill or murder, to abstain from adultery, not to steal or lie or lust and covet after anything that doesn't belong to them. There isn't anyone who would agree this world would be a must better and safer place to live if everyone tried to live in respect to these commandments, showing love and outgoing concern toward their fellow man.

But with the two mentioned above, mountains of human reasoning exists. Why? Because these are the two that are hardest to understand with just the five senses alone. It takes faith to keep these. With respect and obedience to the first four commandments, we show our love and respect toward our Creator, whom we cannot see or touch, smell, taste or feel. Human reasoning is carried out through the five senses...and the great Creator God is beyond human reasoning, beyond the five senses.

Every time God's children of old broke these two laws, they went into captivity as a nation. What are they?

The 1st commandment - Thou shalt have no other gods before me. (In other words, anything that takes the place of God in your heart or where you spend most of your time and energies - God calls them idols - and this world is plumb full of them and they are thorny and their hooks catch us and hold us in their grasp w/o the help of God and the understanding of His precious Holy Spirit)

The 4th commandment - Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy. (The seventh day of the week is the true Sabbath day, and it is on Saturday, not Sunday.) Anyone is free to delve into this and prove this vital truth. Most are not willing, reasoning around this day saying it really doesn't make any different. But if this day were not important or didn't matter to God, then any day of the week would do, and He would not have set in motion a specific commandment for this SPECIFIC DAY. The truth is, there is only one day appointed and set apart by God as holy, and if we're really sincere in following God, we will make sure we know which day it is and keep it, in reverence and in our worship of the true God, the Creator of mankind.

It is through the Holy Spirit that we can understand these things of God that are close to His heart. The Holy Spirit gives spiritual insight and understanding that cannot be gained with just the five senses. And until people are willing to bow down in reverence and submit to God and His words and laws, they will continue stumbling around in the dark as the blind.

But one doesn't have to stay that way. Yes, Satan has blinded this world. It is something that began all the way back in the Garden of Eden when 'those first two' chose to believe Satan and his lies instead of God and His truth.

In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them. 2 Cor 4:4

How many people really believe that today? That Satan is alive and well on planet earth? That the whole world is deceived by him? And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceives the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. Rev 12:9

And He said unto them, Set your hearts unto all the words which I testify among you this day, which ye shall command your children to observe to do, all the words of this law.

For it is not a vain thing for you; because:

IT IS YOUR LIFE!

and through this thing ye shall prolong your days in the land.

Deut 32:46-47
