JOKE OR NO JOKE...

"The Senate is investigating deceptive sweepstakes practices. These companies target the elderly and make them think they will receive a bunch of money, but in reality they never see any of it. The most popular of these scams is called Social Security."

"IT WAS HUGE!

THE FLAMES ENORMOUS,

AND IT HAD "RETIREMENT FUNDS"

WRITTEN ON IT!"

SORRY GUYS, MY POCKETS ARE EMPTY...

Collection time is here Uncle Sam, where's our money?

Having paid into the system all our lives and now close to retirement, there are threats looming on the horizon about our "government savings retirement monies" being pulled out from under our feet like a rug!

We are living in very precarious times (if you haven't noticed that yet).

"Providing some measure of protection against poverty-stricken old age" was the reason for social security taxes (see video below). But if you haven't been saving towards retirement all along, chances are you'll be flat busted and have nothing to look forward to but poverty-stricken old age. Our government can no longer be trusted to provide the cushion to help its senior citizens.

QUESTION: If you were millions of dollars in debt, wouldn't you consider yourself bankrupt? With the $13.5 trillion American deficit, wouldn't America be considered bankrupt?

I repeat: We are living in precarious, dangerous, uncertain times.

Sifting Through the Hype

There is so much talk and discussion going back and forth over this subject it's hard to know what to believe! That's why we must be well informed and prepare ourselves for the worst while all the time hoping for the best. We must do all we can NOW to be ready for retirement. Included at the end are links to several excellent social security websites that offer suggestions, articles and advice.

It's time to wake up, do our research to find the truth and help ourselves survive the onslaught of all this talk and discussion and get to the facts!

Worst Case Scenios

  1. Running out of money in retirement. "Retirement is like a long vacation in Las Vegas. The goal is to enjoy it to the fullest, but not so fully that you run out of money. ~Jonathan Clements

  2. A proposed social security cut which would rob seniors of up to $54,954 during retirement. This one percent Social Security Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) cut would cost seniors as much as $54,954 throughout a 25-year retirement, according to a new analysis released The Senior Citizens League (TSCL).

  3. Declining health –Exercise and good eating habits will protect you and your health. Use natural remedies as much as possible and save big bucks paying for prescriptions. Because without your health, you are bankrupt

4: America is going bankrupt! The sooner we admit it, the more realistic and serious we become in dealing with our future.

5: Politicians seem to be in denial, ignoring the cold, hard facts and deceiving the people with lies

6: Getting scammed by retirement investment companies. WATCH OUT FOR THESE CAREFULLY!

AMERICAN PEOPLE: SAVE YOURSELVES! Heaven knows...YOUR LEADERS CAN'T DO IT FOR YOU!

This hub was created with one purpose in mind: to spur people on, to wake seniors up, so we can prepare for retirement whether we get help from social security or not. With information comes knowledge, with knowledge plans can be formulated. And with plans we can set ourselves up to survive. We just might come out better people through it all. We'll have become prioritizing, downsizing, soul-searching. penny-penching characters with character.

"Money, you can't take it with you when you go,"  BUT, character is the one and only thing that you CAN take with you when you go!

MONEY ISN'T EVERYTHING, BUT CHARACTER IS. Do the homework. Don't be depending on man for his help.

DEPEND ON GOD.
