In Search of Truth
56I’ve been looking, I’ve been readingIn a book as old as time
About a people who aren’t heeding
Words written therein that they find
Words of warning sounding out
Like a trumpet they are blown
Prepare for war! They do shout
To a people so well known
A beloved people, a special kind
Taught and guided down the way
But things got distorted now we find
These people have been led astray
The guide to life is always beckoning
To all the living of the earth
Be wise for the day of reckoning
Down the dark road only dearth
One tin soldier stirred in heart
As he choked on all their lies
Raised his voice while he did mark
Those who’ve blinded their own eyes:
Go ahead and hate your neighbor
Go ahead and cheat a friend
Do it in the name of Heaven
You can justify it in the end
There won't be any trumpets blowing
Come the judgment day
On the bloody morning after
Only one tin soldier rides away

Very lovely poem. Telling the truth, and never telling lies are a few of the good things good parents teach. Life is sweeter when our neighbors do the right things. God Bless You Precious Heart. Wonderful hub, and a poem that reminds us of the ills of being untruthful or of cheating, or telling lies.
Peace, little bluebird.

Who you? Billy Jack? Liked it, but the last stanza isn't "you".
